Iskandar Malaysia Community Public Art Program at Sungaisegget. Think City, Johor Bahru, Malaysia

The Iskandar Malaysia Community Public Art Programme was a key cultural initiative held in 2017. Centered around the Sungai Segget Rejuvenation Project in downtown Johor Bahru, the program was a collaborative effort led by the Iskandar Regional Development Authority (IRDA), Think City, and the Bandung Creative City Forum. The 2017 initiative featured an artist residency program that brought together contemporary artists from across the region to create site-specific installations. The program was part of an overarching strategy to transform the once-polluted river into a vibrant cultural hub. Today, this Cultural and Arts Zone along Sungai Segget features distinctive public sculptures, including the iconic Jawi letter "JIM", while integrating local design motifs to celebrate Johor's rich heritage.
